Objective: Amplify publicity for the book launch for Not If I Can Help It and establish author Meg Groff as a credible voice in domestic abuse advocacy and family court reform legislative efforts.
PR Campaign elements dovetailed with the communication strategies of the National Safe Parents Organization (NSPO).
PR Strategy Overview
Media Relations:
Build relationships with journalists, bloggers, and reviewers focused on relevant topics. Nurture existing media contacts developed by Connecticut Protective Moms and NSPO.
Curate media lists and develop unique pitch templates to sustain coverage over time.
Draft a unique pitch for each outlet/audience to dovetail with issues raised in the book. For example, for a story on Legal Aid, research the lack of legal representation for underserved protective moms, how funding is inadequate and possible solutions.
Distribute digital press packet including a press release, backgrounders, bio, and photographs.
Leverage Meg’s social media accounts to engage with and amplify media contacts, by following, sharing, liking and tagging their work.
2. Influencer Outreach:
Collaborate with influencers and bloggers to expand visibility.
There are more than a dozen Domestic Abuse, Family Court Reform and Coercive Control experts nationally and internationally that we work with to share relevant news such as book releases, academic research and resources. Through social media engagement and personal conversations, we have an extensive network to share the book launch.

Create Menu links to serve as a resource hub on family court issues and advocacy.
Publish guest blog posts alongside Meg’s own content. Share Meg’s blog posts to advocacy blogs with large audiences such as Domestic Shelters.
4. Community and Advocacy Integration:
Partner with NSPO and our extensive domestic abuse advocacy networks for coordinated messaging across all platforms.
Engage directly with domestic abuse victim communities through both grassroots and state government organizations.
Ask select domestic abuse advocates to review the book and post to Amazon and Good Reads.
5. Event Planning in PA:
Organize events such as book signings, webinars, and panel discussions locally to reach regional networks and engage victim advocates in each city. NSPO uses the Mighty Network platform to share information and communicate to victim advocates in all 50 states and we can efficiently engage our members to take action when asked.
Promote through social media, local newspapers, and online listings.
Pitch Meg as a speaker at domestic abuse conferences, related trade presentations and speaker panels.
Every April in San Diego, the Alliance for HOPE International holds the International Family Justice Center Conference. The Alliance evolved from the Family Justice Center Alliance which created a model that calls for efficient, and effective co-located multi-disciplinary service delivery for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors and their children. The Family Justice Center has been recognized as a best practice model by the US Department of Justice.
